Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 May 2026

By installing or using Gluten, Not For Me (“the app”) you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't install the app.

1. What the app does

Gluten, Not For Me lets you scan product barcodes and shows you whether the underlying ingredients contain gluten, by checking the public Open Food Facts database against a list of gluten-containing grains. The app provides this information for personal, non-commercial use.

2. Medical disclaimer — important

The gluten verdicts produced by the app are indicative, not medical advice. Open Food Facts is a community-maintained database that can contain errors, outdated ingredient lists, or missing allergen tags. Manufacturers may also reformulate products without updating their barcodes.

If you have celiac disease or severe gluten intolerance, you must always also read the physical label, contact the manufacturer if in doubt, and follow your doctor's advice. We accept no liability for adverse reactions caused by trusting an incorrect verdict from the app.

3. Account and Sign In with Apple

The app uses Sign In with Apple. You are responsible for keeping your Apple ID credentials secure. Revoking the app's grant from your Apple ID settings will sign you out of the app on your devices.

4. Free tier and Premium subscription

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Intellectual property

The app, its source code, design, name, and logo are owned by Adrien Pennetier. Product data displayed in the app is licensed by Open Food Facts under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0. Individual product images and contents may be subject to their own licences as documented on Open Food Facts.

7. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your device. We may terminate your access if you breach these terms — in which case any unused subscription time is non-refundable, except where Apple's policies say otherwise.

8. Warranty disclaimer

The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that gluten verdicts are accurate or up-to-date, nor that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with future iOS versions.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for the Premium subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim (or €0 if you used the app only on the free tier).

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under French / EU law.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the French courts, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence.

11. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll bump the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and show a banner in the app on next launch. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
